The Myth of the artist

Justin Hoffmann, born in 1955 in Cham (Oberpfalz), works as a curator, musician (FSK) and art historian. Since 2004 he has been the director of the Kunstverein Wolfsburg. After studies at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich, he received a degree in art history, communication science and recent history at the Universität München. He has been an instructor at such institutions as the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe, the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien and the Merz Akademie Stuttgart. Justin Hoffmann was an assistant lecturer at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München and had a guest professorship at the Kunstuniversität Linz. His reviews appear regularly in such art periodicals as  artforum, frieze, Kunst-Bulletin, Kunstforum or springerin.

Thomas Wulffen, born in 1954 in Bochum, lives and works as a free-lance art critic in Berlin. Study of philosophy and theoretical linguistics at the Universität Konstanz. Since 1983 publications for Kunstforum International, Artscribe and Flash Art. Numerous texts for exhibition catalogues, since 1987 activity as a free-lance exhibition organizer. Thomas Wulffen is the editor of the publication Betriebssystem Kunst (Kunstforum International, Vol. 125, January/February 1994) and thereby has had a formative influence on the term “operating-system art” (Betriebssystem Kunst). Since April 2008, he has been the president of the German Section of the Internationaler Kunstkritikerverband (AICA).
